Thursday Thirteen #17
Thirteen Songs I Can't Stand
1. Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer by Elmo & Patsy - I love Christmas songs. Love them! I will play them even when it's not Christmas. But this song is quite possibly one of the dumbest I have ever heard, and besides including the word "reindeer" in the song, I'm not sure what it has to do with Christmas at all.
2. Make Em Say Uhh! by Master P - unless you like to here the expression "uhh" about a hundred times in a song, then this song may not be for anybody.
3. She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas Dolby - I have no idea what this song is really about. I guess it's about infatuation and getting laid, but what I think it's really about is stupidity.
4. Muskrat Love by Captain & Tennille - what else can I say about a song that is about muskrat love? I mean, you even supposeded muskrat noises throughout the song. Terrible, simply terrible.
5. I Love the Nightlife by Alicia Bridges - this song wouldn't be so bad if she didn't the word "action" like a complete moron.
6. Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson - I just don't see anything positive about this song, that, and her voice grates on my nerves like no other.
7. Summer Girls by LFO - thankfully this group disappeared into obscurity immediately after they unleashed this song on the unsuspecting public.
8. My Humps by Black Eyed Peas - I unabashedly admit that I like Fergie when she was Stacey Ferguson on Kids INC, but nowadays she shouldn't be allowed to touch a microphone unless she is doing back-up or singing chorus.
9. Higher by Creed - maybe it's because I'm not religious that I can't stand this song (but I doubt it because there are more religious songs out there that I do enjoy) I think it's because of his voice and the fact that I can never understand anything he says. That, and I think he's a fake.
10. Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band - An overrated song by an overrated band. Did I mention that his voice is whiny in this song? No? Well, toss that in there too then.
11. Your Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer - his voice is to nasal for me in this song. While some of his other songs are at least tolerable to me, the lyrics (besides his nasal voice) are just plain stupid. Thanks for comparing my breasts to amusement park rides.
12. I'll Be There For You by The Rembrandts - way too preppy and upbeat to be liked.
13. Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie & the Blowfish - nothing really against the singer's voice, just never like their sound. You have no idea how grateful I was when the 90's was finally over and I didn't have to hear this song once every hour.

OK....I totally have to disagree with you on #9....Creed is the greatest band ever. Girlfriend...you need to listen to it again and give Scott a chance to open your mind;)

Great list! I agree - Dave Matthews is way overrated as was Hootie and the Blowfish! Happy TT!

Yeah...I can honestly say that I hate Hootie and the Blowfish too!!
Great list! Happy TT!

My TT is up as well. And I have to agree with the vast majority of your song selections, especially #'s 1, 3, 4, 5, and 12. PUKE!

I hate all these too, at least those I've heard, which leaves a couple question marks. Did you see/hear Alanis Morrisette's April Fool's spoof of My Humps? Hilarious! And oh-so-horrifying.

I totally hate #11 too and couldn't figure out why it was always playing on the radio but I do like Creeds "higher"

Did you hear that Scott Staph (or however he spells it) was arrested? I saw his mug shot on CNN a few weeks ago, when I was at the gym. Never got the full story, though -- I was too busy listening to music.
Happy TT!

I agree with you on all except #9. I'm a huge DMB fan.
And I lol (literally) when I read your comment about breasts and amusement park rides! heehee
Thanks for sharing your 13!
Happy Thursday!

I saw the music video for Alanis' version of My Humps, it was terribly hilarious (and I'm really emphasizing terribly) in a good way!
Susan, I did hear about his arrest, something about domestic abuse I think, though I could be wrong.

Agree on #11. How did that become a huge hit? yuck!

hmmmm I think I have only heard two of the songs on your list...and we made fun of those...
Happy TT'ing
